OS 202

Course Description:

The course is divided into the Neuroscience modules (A & B) and Endocrinology module C. OS 202 A begins with the overview of the neuroanatomical structures, followed by introduction to gross neuroanatomy, neurohistology, and neurophysiology. OS 202 B goes further in depth into the different integration control systems of the body (the sensory system, motor system, and higher cerebral functions), with exposure of the students for the first time to patients with neurological problems. OS 202 C deals with the anatomy and physiology of the different components of the endocrine system.

Course Description:

This course introduces the learner to the pathologic changes that occur in diseases of the nervous system. It covers the pathophysiology, symptomatology, diagnosis, prevention, and principles of treatment of disease of the nervous system at the gross, microscopic, and molecular levels, correlated with the physical examination findings and results of imaging procedures.

Course Description:

The course is a rotation in the inpatient and outpatient settings to learn common psychiatric disorders in the Philippines and to practice proper history taking and mental status examination of psychiatric patients

Learning Unit 6

Neurosc 251

Course Description:

Participatory patient care to enhance integration of basic neurologic and psychiatric knowledge and acquisition of fundamental technical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of common neurologic, neurosurgical, and psychiatric disorders in the hospital setting.

This is a 2-week course which aims to equip the students with the knowledge, skills and attitude in the proper evaluation, management and follow-up care of patients with common neurological and psychiatric diseases in the acute, chronic and intensive care settings, using the biopsychosocial approach.

Learning Unit 7

Neurosc 260

Course Description:

Rotation in the inpatient and outpatient settings to learn common neurologic, neurosurgical, and psychiatric disorders in the Philippines and to learn the basics of their treatment and referral.

Clinical Internship in Adult Neurology for Post-Graduate Interns:

Participatory patient care to enhance knowledge in basic neurosciences and acquire fundamental technical skills in the diagnosis and treatment of common neurologic cases in the hospital setting.

This is a 1-week course which aims to equip the post graduate interns with the knowledge, skills and attitude in the proper evaluation, management and follow-up care of patents with common neurological diseases in the acute, chronic and intensive care settings, using the biopsychosocial approach.
