Stroke and Cognition with Dr. Michael Brainin

Last April 29, 2019, the Department of Neurosciences was honored to host a lecture at the Philippine General Hospital (PGH) by Dr. Michael Brainin, a respected university professor from Danube University Krems in Austria and President of the World Stroke Organization (WSO). The lecture centered on post-stroke cognitive decline and possible treatment options, a subject that could not be timelier than ever today as the prevalence and socioeconomic burden of dementia continue to rise. Consultants from varying specialties, neurology residents, interns and medical students listened in with great interest. Present also at the event to give insight on the topic were PGH Director Dr. Gerardo D. Legaspi, Chair of the Department of Neurosciences Dr. Leonor I. Cabral-Lim, Philippine Representative to the WSO Dr. Maria Epifania V. Collantes and Alzheimer’s Disease Association Philippines (ADAP) President Dr. Michelle M. Anlacan among others.
