ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM: The 16th UPFANS Annual Meeting

On 5-7 April 2018, the University of the Philippines - Philippine General Hospital (UP-PGH) Faculty and Alumni of the Neurosciences held its 16th Annual Meeting and Crystal Ball entitled, “ONE TEAM, ONE DREAM: Navigating Through the Neurosciences Together” at the Best Western Hotel in Subic, Zambales. From the farthest corners of the country, members of the UPFANS flocked to the mid-Luzon bayside to reunite with one another and revel in the burgeoning field of Philippine neuroscience with the UP-PGH Department of Neurosciences at its helm.

Over the course of these three days, the UPFANS and other registered guests partook in a series of lectures and discussions geared towards the enhancement of neurologic knowledge: Day 1 featured talks on peripheral nerves, demyelinating diseases, dementia, and stroke care; Day 2, on the other hand, was spent on DBS, gliomas, hydrocephalus and CNSI. The second day of the conference was also peppered with extracurricular activities such as yacht-sailing, and it culminated in a fellowship night known as the Crystal Ball, in which the members of the UPFANS had a chance to unwind, watch great performances by the consultants and the residents, and pay tribute to our honoree retiree of the year, Dr. Willy Lopez.

The conference itself closed on 7 April 2018 after the annual business meeting of the members of the UPFANS.
